Giga Power UK, an energy company owned by investment firm Winch & Co, launches its public electric vehicle charging point network.

Giga Power is a renewable energy producer specialising in the operation of electric vehicle charging point networks, solar plants and wind farms. The business operates to generate sustainable power that it feeds into the National Grid and to offset the power used by its EV charging stations, which also deliver 100% renewable electricity.

The business owns and operates over 50 sites across the UK, including one major solar site currently in construction in Northumberland. The business is also in talks to install another solar farm in Cumbria, North West England. Giga Power underwent a two-year phase of research and investment, following a ‘soft launch’ back in 2022, with its flagship site in Bolton, Greater Manchester.

Winch & Co backed Giga Power with its strategic acquisition of Alfa Power, which completed in February 2025, helping expand the growing network of EV chargers owned and operated by Giga Power UK.

Nathan Winch, Chief Executive at Winch & Co, commented, “Giga has been a passion project for me. We’ve invested a lot of time and money making sure we got it right. It had jumped around on our investment mandate priorities for a while, but I’m happy to finally market the business more widely to EV drivers, charging network platforms and SEG energy providers…”

Debra Hart, Commercial Director at Winch & Co, added, “A lot of places you charge your car require lots of complicated apps and payment profiles… so we decided to create a network that is really easy to use with 99% uptime.”

Giga Power UK operates over 50 sites across the United Kingdom.
